A secondary assembly exploring the media image of the perfect person, and challenging the idea that image is all that counts.
FAITH AND THE MEDIA: THE PERFECT PERSON
Aim:
To understand the power of the media in determining how we see ourselves, and to understand that the image and what lies beneath it need to match.
Preparation:
This assembly uses visual images which are readily available. Suggestions are given in each case. (See page 4 for links)
You will also need the clip from The Devil Wears Prada cued up and ready to play.

Slide 1 - as students enter – the ‘perfect’ female face
So you have had time to look at the image on the screen. What do you think Good looking, or what (Share some reactions) Would it surprise you to know that a group of scientists studied what it is about the female face that men find attractive, and they came up with this computer-generated image as the ‘perfect’ face for a Western female. Other people disagree, of course: for example, some scientists have said that the face of Alice Cullen is the ‘perfect’ face ….

And there are many other suggestions out there. The perfect male face Another group of scientists has worked out what women find attractive in the male face, and come up with this:
