He was hungry, yet he laughed.
She was well fed, yet she cried.
Lord, there are so many different kinds of hunger
In this starving world of ours.
There are so many crying out to be fed.
We can hardly bear to see
The starving children on our televisions screens,
With their fleshless limbs, huge, soulful eyes,
Absurdly swollen stomachs;
Yet might not those images of malnourished bodies
Also be images of the souls of the well fed?
